About 265km from Perth, Coorow is a haven for astrophotographers, offering stunning views of the cosmos. Touche Road gives access a variety of outlooks across crystal-clear salt lakes reflecting the Milky Way, and the soft glow of distant stars.

In winter, the lakes are full, creating a mirror-like surface that reflects the Milky Way in all its glory. Summer in Coorow brings a different beauty, with dried-up salt basins creating a stark, otherworldly landscape.

See the Salmons in Perenjori

Of you’re looking for a unique and awe-inspiring place to capture the cosmos, the Salmons is a special spot for astrophotographers.

About 20km northeast of the Mid West wildflower town of Perenjori, the Salmons is a stunning location, with its red rock formations and iconic Salmon Gum trees, offers a breathtaking backdrop for your photos.

While it’s private property, visitors are welcome to explore and appreciate the beauty of the area. Just remember to respect the land and its inhabitants, both human and wildlife. You might even spot a kangaroo or a flock of endangered Red-tailed Black Cockatoos.

A touch over 300km from Perth, Lake Grace’s Jam Patch is a photographer’s dream. With stunning views of Lake Evelyn to the south and southeast, it’s the perfect spot to capture the celestial river of the Milky Way in all its glory.

For more classic shots, head closer to town to the Lake Grace Lookout. This iconic viewpoint offers breathtaking vistas of the lake paired with a starry sky.

30 mins from Lake Grace, a contrast of urban and astronomical makes for fantastic astrophotography. The Newdegate grain silos (known as Newdegate Siloart) are painted with stunning murals, creating a unique and captivating backdrop for your night sky shots.
