The date for Astrofest 2018 has been announced. 5.30pm to 9.30pm, Saturday 24 March 2018 at Curtin Stadium and Edinburgh Oval, Kent Street, Bentley.
Astrofest is a free family event and has been very popular with Western Australians since the first one in 2009. Every year a crowd of approximately 4,000 to 5,000 attend.
There are dozens of big telescopes on the oval to look through. The views will be spectacular. There will be the beautiful crescent Moon, Southern Cross, Jewel Box, great Orion Nebula and much more to see.
Special guest presenters will talk on a variety of space topics. Science shows and space domes will delight. You’ll be able to meet amateur astronomers and stargazing enthusiasts from all over WA. Plus catch up with the wonderful space characters that come along! Some of them are in the photo above!
“Galaxy Girl” and Stargazers Club WA will be out on the oval with telescopes. Some Club members with their telescopes will be there as well. This is a perfect opportunity to chat with others who are just starting out in this astronomical hobby. How did they start? What telescope did they buy? What’s been easy and what’s been more difficult?
Sign up to Stargazers Club WA’s FREE monthly eNews and “Galaxy Girl” will keep you in touch with all the details!
The Astrofest Astrophotography Exhibition is an amazing display of local photographers. If you’re a budding astrophotographer, you might even like to enter into the Astrofest Astrophotography Competition.
